The Town of Lee is accepting applications through Friday, June 5, 2026 at 4:30 pm for the position of Deputy Clerk. The applicant is required to have a valid high school diploma or a GED and a valid Florida Driver’s license. The applicant must pass a background check and a drug screen test. General description of duties: Performs varied administrative duties and provides technical support to the Town Manager and is responsible for a wide range of clerical, accounting and record keeping duties. Incorporated 1909. One version suggests that Lee was named after the first railroad supervisor, Jim Lee, for whom the depot was named. Another story is that Lee was named after General Robert E. Lee, commander-in-chief of the Confederate armed forces during the Civil War, who visited here. The post office was opened in 1882 and John Haven then chose the name. Philip Newland had established a limekiln at the town.
